Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy /
Equine Facilitated Learning

When most of us think of therapy, we see in our minds eye the more traditional environment of a room setting, and I offer something that little bit different - therapy in the great outdoors.

I am an Equine Facilitated Psychotherapist (EFP), and you can see from the photograph this form of therapy is working alongside my equine partners.  This form of therapy is very much removed from the traditional room based sessions, and has proven to be extremely beneficial for anyone who is searching for a different approach.

EFP is an experiential form of therapy where clients interact with horses in their natural surroundings.  The collaboration between the horse, psychotherapist and the client assists personal growth and learning in a non-threatening environment.  I facilitate the relationship between the horse and the client and offer reflections through the process to support the clients therapeutic journey.

Each session lasts up to 90 minutes.

  • This form of therapy does not involve riding, and no prior horse knowledge is required.

Many studies have shown the horse-human interaction to have a wide range of benefits for those affected by anxiety, depression, PTSD, and autism: or those who have had their lives affected by trauma, abuse or chronic illness.

Equine Facilitated Learning involves a range of groundwork exercises which builds a relationship with the horse, and this can improve confidence and self esteem in the participant.  Each session lasts up to 60 minutes.

EFP Session cost £100

EFL Session cost £75
